Injury Cycle

Before you actually have local pain in a muscle or joint your body has gone halfway through an injury cycle which started years or weeks ago. If you have an accident such as tripping over a step and twisting your ankle, or slipping and falling, you will clearly know where your pain comes from.  But, if you just wake up one morning or during the day notice that you may have pain in your knee, back, neck, or hip, you are suffering from a muscle or flexibility imbalance that is half-way through an injury cycle.  The structural integrity of the kinetic chain is compromised because components of the kinetic chain are out of alignment. If one segment of the kinetic chain is out of alignment, other movement segments have to compensate in attempts to balance the weight distribution of the dysfunctional segment. This compensation overloads a specific muscle or joint and over time tissue trauma, muscle inflammation, increased neuromuscular tension, the buildup of metabolic waste, a reduction in the amount of oxygen reaching the muscles, decreased activation of threshold nocioceptors will develop and then pain occurs. The cycle isn't finished once you feel pain, the cycle continues from acute periods of pain to chronic pain and a complete breakdown of the muscle or joint. Pain is the signal that warns about a problem in your kinetic chain. When you become aware of it, you can address it with the proper professional assistance.

Clients cannot reach optimum fitness without correcting these conditions. Our ultimate goal is to have you attain the highest level of fitness you can without pain and to teach you how to manage your physical health.
