When you are younger than forty years of age your body is in the prime of its life.  Everything works better, your body will respond to exercise much quickier, and losing weight is easier.  This is the best time to receive the benefits of exercise and if you stay consistent it will have a positive effect for the rest of your life.  You can play a vital part in the quality of life you have as you age.
